According to Acts 20.474 and 20.867 and Supreme Decree N° 113/2011 MTT, modified by S.D.  N° 172/16 MTT, as from year 2012 the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications has carried out Background Bidding processes for the enrolment of new taxis in different regions of Chile. Some of them admit electric units.

Two months ago, Portal Movilidad reported the situation of each one of these processes.

Following, the updating:

There are two processes admitting electric vehicles in de los Ríos Region among the recent biddings called:

• 60 (sixty) new enrolments of executive taxis to operate in the districts/zones of operation in Valdivia; Panguipulli and San José de la Mariquina. The last updating of December clarified the situation of some candidates. However, the selected candidates will have to perform the enrolment of the vehicle in the National Registry of People Transport Service as executive taxi before January 27 2021. Furthermore,  for applications with electric vehicles to be acquired which required to be previously imported for its registration in the National Registry of Motorized Vehicles of the Service of the Civil Registry, the maximum term for the respective enrolment as executive taxi shall be up to May 2021.
• 10 (ten) new enrolments of electric urban collective taxis to operate in Valdivia, de Los Ríos Region. The list of selected candidates and waiting list on the Background Bidding processes were approved in November. Candidates with vehicles to be acquired have time until January 17 to submit, before the Regional Secretary, a copy of the Enrolment Application or Enrolment Certificate at the Registry of Motorized Vehicles (RVM). On the other hand, such candidates will have time until February 16 2021 to perform the enrolment of the respective vehicle as urban collective taxi.

Furthermore, there also are Evaluation or Selection Bidding processes.

Valparaíso Region:

• 134 (one hundred and thirty-four) new enrolments of basic electric taxis in the National Registry of Services of Transport of People, to operate in zones including San Antonio province, on one hand, and Valparaíso and Viña del Mar district , on the other hand. November 8 was the deadline for selected candidates with electric vehicles to be acquired (in this case were only for Valparaiso and Viña del Mar district) which require to be previously imported for its registration in the National Registry of Motorized Vehicles. There has not been official updating confirming if requirements were complied with or the term extended.

Metropolitana region:

• 145 (one hundred and forty-five) new enrolments of executive taxis in the Regional Registry of Services of Transport of People, to operate in the province of Santiago and districts of San Bernardo and Puente Alto  of Maipo and Cordillera provinces. At certain time, there were 5 approved candidates for electric vehicles with remedy submitted before the Regional Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications of Metropolitana Region; most of them requesting the term extension rejected by the public organism. There has not been official process updating since October.
