The company that started its operations in the Netherlands, then opened borders in Spain, will have a 2023 with big expansion announcements. Europe is still on the horizon, with three countries appearing in the medium term and, somewhat later, two more.

«When entering a new country, one must first of all take into account a good offer and obtain agreements of national importance», says Òscar Cardoner, Business Development Manager (BDM) at PowerGo.

This is what the Dutch company’s strategy will be about when it comes to entering new markets.

Cardoner says that countries such as Germany, Belgium and the Nordic countries, with a special focus on Denmark, are very interesting. All three are places where electromobility is well established and competition is strong.

«Denmark has a similar culture and economy to the Netherlands. The business model can be replicated more easily, especially because of the good purchasing power and number of electric vehicles«, explains and highlights the BDM to Mobility Portal.

But not only that, PowerGo also sees other European markets. There, however, Cardoner puts the brakes on and explains that they will not be introduced there immediately. They will enter France and Italy at a later stage.

«One of PowerGo’s attractive conditions is our main feature: all the energy consumed by our chargers is always renewable energy,» explains Cardoner.

This energy comes from the energy generated in the solar panels of the group company to which he belongs: PowerField. In any case, the energy is always certified as green energy.

The goal of 15,000 chargers

By 2025, PowerGo aims to have 15,000 charging points installed throughout Europe. Without emphasising any particular country, Cardoner tells Portal Movilidad España of this intention

This will comprise very fast chargers, focused on public charging, which will encourage the energy transition, and with an emphasis on transforming the fleets of companies such as last-mile transport companies and commercial fleets among others.

«Whenever we can, we put in a fast charger. That’s our mentality when the power available and the usage is appropriate,» he tells BDM.

He says this technology is prioritised if these two conditions are met. If this is not the case, another type of connector will be installed in that facility.

Normally, PowerGo considers fast charging from 60 or 100 kW upwards. The company is currently installing, among others, chargers of more than 120 kW.
