Great Wall Motors’ brand Ora has presented its newest model for the UK. The new model is yet to be named and is a fully-electric saloon with a range of more than 300 miles (482 km). It will go on sale in early 2024.
For the UK, there is no pricing or technical specifications for the new model. However, GWM Ora says the EV is already being sold in China. In the UK, it will hit the road in the first quarter of next year.
According to the manufacturer, the EV will therefore “likely” be available with a two-wheel and a four-wheel dive and have an electric range of more than 300 miles. The four-wheel-drive version would “produce around 400PS with 680NM of torque, resulting in a 0-62mph time of just over 4.4 seconds.”
The vehicle was presented at the show “Fully Charged Live.” According to Ora, reservations were initially available at the show for its attendees.
Ora just launched the Ora Funky Car First Edition in the UK, which became available in November 2022.
Great Wall Motors announced the creation of the new Ora brand, dedicated to a new line of electric cars, in May 2018.
According to Great Wall Motors, Ora stands for ‘open, reliable and alternative’.
At the time, the brand was launched with two initial models: the crossover iQ5 (now iQ) and city car R1 (now Black Cat).
Sales of the iQ officially kicked off the brand in August 2018.
The third Ora model R2 (now White Cat) was first previewed in June 2019, with production officially beginning in July, 2020.
The naming of the ‘cat’ series vehicles is reportedly based on a Deng Xiaoping’s famous quote: “No matter if it is a white cat or a black cat; as long as it can catch mice, it is a good cat.”
Ora launched in Europe, Thailand, Malaysia, South Africa, and Australia in late 2022.
