From highest to lowest range these are the electric buses approved in Chile
Yutong, BYD, Foton, Zhongtong, King Long and Higer are the brands currently competing for the e-bus market in Chile in their different segments.

Currently, all Chinese brands have e-bus units that have been approved by the Chilean Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications and the Vehicle Control and Certification Centre (3CV).

Yutong, BYD, Foton, Zhongtong, King Long and Higer are the companies that have managed to enter – for the moment – the electric bus market and – in some cases – the Chilean public transport market.

Below, from greater to lesser range, the range available on the market:

Over 200 kilometres

With a range of 237 kilometres, the 90-passenger Foton eBus U12 SC is the model with the longest range on a single charge. It has a consumption of 1.63 kwh/km.

The Zhongtong LCK6122EVG can travel 222.3 kilometres carrying up to 88 passengers with a fuel consumption of 1.58 kwh/km.

Yutong’s ZK6128BEVG, on the other hand, achieves a range of 219.7 kilometres. It has a capacity for 87 passengers and a fuel consumption of 1.48 kwh/km.

The Zhongtong LCK6106EVG and the King Long XMQ 6127G PLUS are very close behind. The former, with a fuel consumption of 1.46 kwh/km, achieves a range of 216 kilometres with a total capacity of up to 74 passengers. The King Long XMQ 6127G PLUS, on the other hand, can travel 215 kilometres on a single charge and consumes 1.74 kwh/km.

Between 100 and 200 kilometres

The Zhongtong LCK6180EVG achieves a range of 196 kilometres and is the only articulated electric bus on the market with a capacity of 141 passengers. Its fuel consumption is 2.67 kwh/km.

This is followed by the 45-passenger King Long XMQ 6900G with a range of 186 kilometres and a kwh/km equivalent of 1.13.

The – for the moment – only Higer model on the Chilean market achieves a range of 181 kilometres. The reference is for the E 130.30 (KLQ6122GEV) with a capacity of 95 passengers and a consumption of 1.9 kwh/km.

176.1 is the range in kilometres for the 81-passenger BYD K9 FE and 1.48 kwh/km is the consumption for this bus.

Zhongtong LCK6850EVG with 62 passengers as total capacity can travel 167 kilometres on one charge while consuming 1.2 kwh/km.

BYD’s other offer on the market achieves a range of 138.6 kilometres. It is the 45-passenger K7 model which consumes 1.13 kwh/km.

With 104 kilometres of range is the 47-passenger Foton eBus U8.5 QC. This e-bus reports a consumption of 1.24 kwh/km.

Less than 100 kilometres

Below this mark is the Foton eBus U12 QC, which achieves a range of 90.9 kilometres and can carry up to 90 passengers with a consumption of 1.67 kwh/km.

It should be clarified that the aforementioned public bodies collected the data offered in the article of the thirteen models of e-buses in the measurement according to Exempt Resolution No. 2.243: «Technical protocol to obtain energy consumption in urban public transport buses in the city of Santiago».
