The British bus operator First Bus will offer charging for all types of electric vehicles at its Summcourt depot in Cornwall. It is the first operator in the UK to offer such a charging hub.
The goal is to “provide the local community with direct access to rapid electric charging infrastructure for electric cars and vans”, First Bus says. That way, it should become easier for locals to adopt EVs.
The site in Summercourt will offer “eight rapid charging facilities available on a pay-as-you-go basis”. The chargers provide 75kW each and will be provided by Heliox UK. There is no further information about the chargers. It is still being prepared, but should be open to the public later this summer.
First Bus aims to run a 100% electric fleet by 2035.

The chargers will also be available to local businesses. According to First Bus, a B2B charging pilot in Glasgow and Leicester was a success, where the bus operator offered charging to companies such as DPD or Police Scotland.
